Kayleigh & Dan
It was a beautiful warm sunny morning in the picturesque French mountain town of Chamonix. This is my home away from home, having spent numerous winters in this extraordinary valley, it’s always a delight to see the mountains come to life in the summertime. Being a Chamonix wedding photographer definitely has its perks, with explosions of colour everywhere you look, this has to be one of my all time favourite wedding venues.
I arrived at the chalet, with Mont Blanc gleaming in the distance as the bride began her wedding preparations. I say my hellos then blend into the background and begin photographing the wedding day in my documentary ‘fly on the wall’ style.
Once the bride is ready, we head to the unforgettably beautiful ruins by Lac Gailliands, a hidden gem in centre of Chamonix Valley, where I love to take couples for their ‘first look’ before the ceremony. With its magical almost fictional landscape, it’s the perfect spot that brings a fairy-tale wedding to life.
After the ceremony in the French chapel, I had arranged with Kayleigh & Dan a full hour away from the wedding party to sneak off for a stroll around the mountains via the Brevent Gondola. At 2000m I knew the vista would make for some truly incredible magazine editorial style Bride & Groom shots. And wow did they deliver!
Photographing a wedding is ultimately capturing moments and creating a narrative of that special day, so when Kayleigh & Dan look back on their anniversary, in 1 year, 5 years and hopefully 35 years, this is how they will remember their fairy-tale Chamonix Wedding…
